Graf-Zeppelin-Haus, Friedrichshafen

The Graf-Zeppelin-Haus is a cultural and convention center with unique architecture located on Lake Constance in the city of Friedrichshafen. It opened in October 1985 and features various halls and conference rooms, a restaurant, a café, and an underground parking garage; it is situated on the western waterfront promenade. The 1980s building, which is a listed historic structure, is in a condition commensurate with its years of use and the state of the art at the time, and is therefore scheduled for renovation. The renovation will cover areas such as the restaurant, conference halls, and foyers—including the façade—as well as central technical systems, roof renovation, and the redesign of the event hall.

The extensive renovation work will bring the historic building up to current standards for use and safety. At the same time, this presents a unique opportunity to upgrade the restaurant, café, and kitchen to meet today’s logistical and hygiene standards after three decades. Operations can be maintained to the greatest extent possible while the necessary renovation work is underway.
