New Construction of St. Felix and Regula Parish Church

The Catholic parish in Schwarzenbach is planning to build a new parish church dedicated to St. Felix and Regula. The existing church building was in danger of collapsing due to a damaged roof structure and will be replaced by a modern new church. The new standalone church building will be constructed next to the existing church tower on a footprint of approximately 376 m². The steeply pitched church roof is expected to reach a height of approximately 15 m.

 The hybrid construction method combines wood and reinforced concrete in the structural framework. In the worship space, slender, closely spaced wooden columns connect the floor slab to the roof structure. The translucent façade and a skylight ensure even lighting of the interior without allowing direct views from the outside. The new church building is designed as a low-tech structure. The use of high-quality, eco-friendly, and locally sourced materials, energy-efficient building services systems, and renewable energy conserves nature and the environment and makes a positive contribution to sustainability.

With this new building, the parish church of St. Felix and Regula is set to become a modern, welcoming community center.
