Resource-Efficient Construction
The massive consumption of resources calls for a change in thinking. The current use of building materials must be critically examined. Smart designs using eco-friendly materials can save a significant amount of valuable resources. Energy consumption and material costs, when considered over the entire life cycle, can generally be reduced through careful planning and well-designed structures.
Particularly exciting in this context is our earthen construction research project, “Load-Bearing Rammed Earth,” which we have been actively pursuing in close collaboration with Martin Rauch (Lehm Ton Erde Baukunst GmbH, Schlins, Austria) for more than three years.
